Output at the BHP-operated Chile copper mine included 975,893t of copper in concentrates and 266,794t of copper cathodes. The mine experienced 44 days of strike action in 2017.
"We are happy with the positive results from 2018. The challenges, however, are growing because as the deposit ages we face deeper pits, lower grades and harder rock, as well as more demanding standards. All of this obliges us to continue to focus on improving productivity, controlling costs and incorporating technological advances," said president Mauro Neves.
