Marubeni breaks ground on US$1B Codelco desal plant

Marubeni and Chilean power transmission company Transelec Holdings have raised an undisclosed amount to to launch a desalination and water transmission business for state copper company Codelco to supply its copper mining operations in northern Chile. Marubeni concluded a long-term water sales agreement with Codelco in July 2022.
