Benton Resources (TSXV: BEX), Metals Creek Resources (TSXV: MEK) and Quadro Resources (TSXV: QRO) had already been pooling some resources on the Great Northern Peninsula when they discovered the galena-chalcopyrite-zinc-fluorite zone through joint reconnaissance prospecting.
"Representatives of the three companies were sharing mobilisation and transportation costs while working adjacent properties when the discovery was made, therefore [we] agreed to stake the ground as equal partners," Benton said.
Grab samples were "rushed for analysis" and Metals Creek said sample 309918 was of particular note, as it was taken 300m along strike from the main cluster of samples and returned 5.07% lead and 192g/t silver.
The companies said the property was about 7km from the south-east boundary of Altius Minerals' Sail Pond discovery, where Altius had reported grab samples of up to 2,030g/t silver, 7.08% copper, 9.4% lead, 2.54% tin and 0.46g/t gold.
Altius recently announced it was selling Sail Pond to New Found Gold Corp, which must list on a Canadian stock exchange as part of the deal.
Benton and Quadro shares were unchanged on Friday at C5c and 4c respectively.
Metals Creek closed half-a-cent lower at 4.5c.
