Brazilian mine sites could emit 5% of global annual emissions, study finds

If all legal active mining sites in Brazil continue operations over the next decades, emissions will add up to 2.55Gt of CO2 equivalent due to the loss of vegetation and soil, researchers from the University of São Paulo estimated.
