Savannah Resources thinks its Mina do Barroso project in Portugal has more potential to be realised

Savannah said  drilling on the project's Aldeia Block A had continued to define zones of a high-grade lithium-bearing pegmatite body about 2km south-east of the Grandao deposit.

Key lithium intersections at the block include 45m at 1.67% Li2O from 89m, including 22m at 2%, which was the highest-grade intersection at Mina do Barroso to date.

Other highlights were 31.7m at 1.47% from 80m; and 31.5m at 1.14% from 114m; 17m at 1.48% from 96m; 24m at 1.4% from 117m; and 1m at 1.17% from surface.

It said RC drilling at Grandao had also identified additional near surface extensions to the existing mineralisation, including 12m at 1.08% from 28m; and 6m at 1.7% from 36m.

Savannah is continuing drilling on the Aldeia deposit, with focus on tracing the pegmatite body further down dip and along strike to the west. The current strike length is now estimated at 250m.

It said the drilling results were expected to contribute to a significant increase in Mina do Barroso's existing mineral resource of 23 million tonnes at 1.02% Li20.

CEO David Archer said the latest results demonstrated the full scope of the project's potential was still being realised.

"Results from recent workflow have continued to solidify Mina do Barroso's status as Western Europe's most significant new spodumene lithium discovery positioning Savannah as a key strategic player in Europe's upstream lithium value chain," he said.

Savannah's shares (AIM:SAV) rose 2.39% Wednesday to 5.58p (US7.21c), up from 5.2p at the start of the year, but down from 6.5p in mid-February.
