Steenkamp, who started his career in 1973, has spent over four decades managing operations in South Africa within the gold, copper, manganese, iron ore and chrome sectors.
He has spent a number of years at African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), where he was appointed as managing director of subsidiary Avgold in 2002 and served on the board of Assmang and Avmin board, becoming CEO of the latter in 2003.
Steenkamp eventually served as CEO of ARM Ferrous and CEO of ARM Exploration and Strategic Services and joined the board after retiring in 2017.
Kropz' largest shareholder, African Rainbow Capital is associated with ARM.
