Porcile has more than 50 years of mining business experience, mostly in copper, and will be using his international project experience to assist in the development of Los Andes' Vizcachitas copper project.

Most recently he was director of the Codelco board over the 2010-2014 period and has since been a consultant for copper, iron and gold mining companies.

Porcile was previously president of Compañía Doña Inés de Collahuasi and president of the Falconbridge copper business unit.

He was vice president project development for BHP Billiton's base metals division and before that president of Compañía Minera Cerro Colorado of Rio Algom.

Porcile is replacing chairman Klaus Zeitler, who will be retiring from the board after 12 years.
