Randgold announced on the first day of the new year the scheme court order sanctioning the scheme of arrangement had been delivered to the Jersey Registrar,  making the all-share merger between Randgold and Barrick Gold effective.

The Royal Court of Jersey had sanctioned the deal in mid-December, which was the final milestone to completing the major merger.

As planned, Randgold's shares on the London Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Exchange were suspended on December 31 and delisted on January 2.

From today, the larger Barrick will trade as GOLD in New York and continue as ABX in Toronto.
