Two especially large diamonds of 51.13ct and 47.59ct were sold during the auction, which was the second for the year.

Alrosa sold 109 out of 122 auction lots, with 56 companies from Belgium, India, Israel, the UAE, the USA, Hong Kong and Russia participating.

Executive committee member and director of the United Selling Organisation Evgeny Agureev said the total weight of sold diamonds was more than 1,840ct, with the same consistently high results expected at the three more auctions planned for this year in Dubai.

The first auction in Dubai raised $8.3 million from the sale of 121 stones weighing a total 1,950ct.

In late March, an auction in New York also raised $11.8 million from the sale of 107 stones weighing a total 1,900ct.
