De Beers rough sales slip in fourth sales cycle

Macroeconomic uncertainty, seasonal slowdown hit demand

De Beers raised a provisional US$415 million during the cycle, down from $554 million a year ago and from the previous cycle's $581 million.
 
CEO Bruce Cleaver said macroeconomic uncertainty had hit sales in the fourth cycle, with the industry also entering a seasonally slower period as Indian factories temporarily closed for the traditional holiday period.
