Recently installed International Council on Mining and Metals chief executive Rohitesh Dhawan has come back from the COP26 meeting in Glasgow last month full of praise for the commitment of mining's leaders to achieve net-zero emissions status no later than 2050.
Mining Journal managing editor Chris Cann caught up with Dhawan to hear his thoughts on the meeting; the importance of ICMM's leadership compared to the need for regulation; the role of transparency and the ‘Global Stocktake' due in 2023 in making targets a reality; and the need for a carbon price to give climate policy teeth.
