The most-read story on Mining Journal in 2020 was Gold confusion in brave new world, in the column View from the West End.

Written in April, less than a month after the World Health Organisation declared COVID-19 a pandemic, the popular columnist mused about the outlook for the gold price.

He penned his final column in August, signing off after 12 years using the immortal words of Douglas Adams: "So long and thanks for all the fish".

The second most popular article in Mining Journal this year was ‘Tidal wave' of investment coming to gold.

The piece written by Paul Harris covered the keynote session of the Masters of Mining webinar in April, where Osisko Gold Royalties CEO Sean Roosen made the comments about a tsunami of cash coming to the gold sector due to prevailing economic fundamentals.

The article to garner almost as much attention was Kazatomprom tips uranium deficit.

Henry Lazenby reported in May on the impact of the leading Kazakhstan uranium producer maintaining minesite restrictions to stem the spread of COVID-19 for at least another three months.
