Major new Chinese copper smelter may surprise LME Week

Chinese demand for copper concentrate is set to get a boost in October, with the country's largest private copper producer, Nanfang Nonferrous, tipped to be starting its 400,000tpa smelter several months earlier than previously expected.

The news follows extremely low Chinese smelting activity in July, with the largest fall in activity in 18 months.
