That is exactly where gold hopeful and Bayan Khundii gold project owner Erdene Resource Development (CN:ERD) has gone with its latest board appointment.
The company has just added Cameron McRae as a non-executive, independent member of its board.
McRae's 28 years of experience with mining major Rio Tinto (LN:RIO) includes a stint as president for Oyu Tolgoi LLC, the joint venture company for the massive Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine in Mongolia's South Gobi.
Erdene chairman Chris Cowan said McRae's experience spoke for itself.
"He led the construction and start-up of the US$6 billion Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine in southern Mongolia, one of the world's largest known copper and gold projects," Cowan said.
McRae is the founder of Tarva Investment & Advisory, a consultancy firm that has previously acted as strategic advisor to Erdenes Mongol, Mongolia's state-owned asset management firm. Tarva was involved with the resolution of the Oyu Tolgoi dispute between Rio and the Government of Mongolia.
He is also an executive director of the Business Council of Mongolia.
