Canadian mining technology firm Newtrax Technologies has appointed Boris Burgos as vice president of Latin America as it continues to target growth in the region.

The firm, controlled by private equity and claiming to provide a unique underground hard-rock mine communication technology system, is seeking to expand its footprint in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru. Recent deals have included sales to Yamana Gold's Jacobina mine Brazil's Bahia state, and Agnico Eagle and Fresnillo mines in Mexico.

Burgos joined Newtrax two years ago as sales manager of the Latin American region.
