PROJECT OVERVIEW
AMC is engaged to provide open pit mining planning services to Damang, an open pit mine, located in Ghana, West Africa, and majority owned by GFL.
Damang has been in operation for 20 years during which time it has produced in excess of 4 Moz of gold. However the mine is at a decision point with all main pits reaching the end of their current life.
AMC is assisting GFL to determine the future direction of Damang by evaluating the potential to extend the mine life through further major cutbacks to the main open pits.
As part of the process AMC has prepared:
- Options studies considering different sized cutbacks.
- Strategic scheduling and financial modeling to determine the preferred mine design, mining sequence, and mining rate.
- Detailed mine designs.
- Detailed mining and processing schedules.
- Detailed mining cost estimation.
AMC has worked closely with GFL personnel at site, regional and corporate level to complete the project work in an intensive six-month period.
